Can I turn fat into muscle? Will my muscle turn to fat? NO NO NO NO 🚫
Something a lot of people ask me, even athletes 🤯
Fat and muscle are two completely different types of tissue! Neither can be converted into the other ♻
To lose fat you need to get active, thus cutting calorie intake and exercising. To lose fat without also losing muscle means you will have to eat the right foods 🍗
If you cut your calorie intake this will result in weight loss with a decrease in fat mass but also muscle mass if you do not consume enough protein… this is not muscle turning to fat 💥
If you decrease your food intake our bodies natural response is to produce cortisol (this provides alternative fuels for the body). Cortisol will decrease muscle protein synthesis. The body cannot afford to waste energy when it’s starved so it makes sense to take this energy from muscles (reducing muscle mass) ⬇
Remember:
1- To gain muscle mass you need to be lifting heavy resistance and consuming plenty of protein 🏋🏻♀💪🏻
2- To lose body fat you must reduce calorie intake and exercise 🥦🥑
Two different processes ✅💪🏻
