I come across many people looking to make improvements to their health and performance. Whether it is fat loss, physique development or an athlete looking for that extra 10%. No matter what people are looking to achieve all of the above takes some form of sacrifice and commitment.
One of the reasons people fail or don’t fully reach their goals is their environment and the people they are surrounded by.
Anyone heard any of the following:
- Why are you eating that for lunch?
- You’re not drinking? How boring…
- Why come to a restaurant and order that?
- Getting up at that hour just to go to the gym…
- It’s the weekend, you need to relax
There are people in everyone’s lives that judge or make you feel guilty for looking after yourself. For eating well, making the right decisions to reach your goals.
These people certainly do not mean anything by it and most often they are friends, family or work colleges. However, if these comments are being reinforced each day this certainly does not help with mindset and progress towards achieving a goal.
You need to make a conscious effort to stand by what you want. Explain the reason why and they will respect you for being honest. Be confident in what you are working towards and focus on staying on track. You may even inspire the person you are speaking to and potentially get some support.
Be strong and be disciplined in what you are doing and don’t be influenced by others. Take some time for yourself, nothing wrong with being selfish when it comes to your health, your goals and standing up for what you want.
